Muhammad Yunus

i hate money. lots of it. little bits of it. pretty much, almost... all of it.

in my opinion, it makes people ugly; even the best, most wonderful, beautiful people, too. it is a creature like none other.

i could trust a good number of people with my life. WITH MY LIFE, yes. but of those same people, i could not necessarily say i could trust them with my money, with any money.

isn't that horrible? (because you know it's true.)

but this year's nobel peace prize winner is different. for $27, he realized he could liberate an entire village, realizing just before how a woman who made "such beautiful things" had virtually became a slave for about $.09 (US equivalent to 5 taka). based on this discovery, he and his Grameen Bank have distributed several "microcredit" loans, lifting millions out of poverty. these loans are around $200 each. his bank experiences about a 99 percent repayment rate.

hello, people, just little $200 loans: MILLIONS OUT OF POVERTY.

that's a wretched creature turned good for once. :)

p.s. happy friday the 13th. :D
